Department of Real Estate and Construction

The Department of Real Estate and Construction is part of the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment at Oxford Brookes University, one of the largest multi-disciplinary built environment schools in the UK.

The Department has offered programmes of study in real estate and construction for more than four decades. It has an outstanding reputation for the quality of its teaching and is developing a growing recognition as a centre of excellence in research of international standing. We aim to give students a firm foundation and prepare them for long-lasting and rewarding careers in the property, construction and related industries.

We offer a range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are consistently ranked as excellent in both student surveys and independent quality assessments. Our courses are accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Our graduates are highly sought after within the industry both nationally and internationally.

We have developed strong and extensive links throughout the property and construction sectors and engage leading industry figures of international standing as visiting professors and lecturers. Our teaching is underpinned by strong research activity in the fields of property and construction in which the department has an excellent reputation for the quality of its research.

All of our academic staff are involved in academic research and/or professional/commercial consultancy work, including the supervision of MPhil/PhD students working on a wide range of research topics. Our research is funded by the research councils, industry (and the professions, Including RICS) as well as the public sector, and is applied by many organisations in the property, construction and related industry sectors.
